Short answer: he may find himself in court and take another job conning people out of money.

Trump's enemies are growing increasingly displeased and may fight Acosta's actions or position in court.

A job offer regarding some type of finance to con money out of people.

Truce, conversation, delay, meetings
Plans and discussions are being delayed until meetings take place (what meetings?).

I don't know how to interpret this. Maybe he resigns or is fired so he can work in the shadows without questions or backlash?

Acosta is resigned and I don't need to pull any more cards to know the meetings were about how to make this problem go away. Trump's replacement Dept of Labor pick is every bit as bad. Now that Acosta is out and a new swamp creature is in, they'll probably resume plotting evil thinking they've successfully averted prying eyes.
