Why did Mark Esper fire Richard Spencer?
Breaking News: Defense Secretary Mark Esper fired top Navy official Richard Spencer allegedly because Spencer tried to make a secret deal with Trump. Edward Gallagher is to retire at the end of the month with his full rank. His disciplinary board hearing is to be cancelled.
This reeks of lies and badness. I think Esper is lying. It's really convenient that Spencer just happened to be a bad actor after speaking out so harshly against Trump, and that pesky disciplinary hearing that Trump was opposed to but advised not to interfere in, magically went away.
My senses started buzzing when he pardoned the war criminals. It was one of those things that was bad enough on its own, but felt extra bad for some reason. So here we are in an avalanche of badness. It just keeps getting worse.
So why did Esper fire Spencer?
Top left is motivations. At a glance it does look like it would be because a secret betrayal occurred in the Navy. Aha! So Spencer is dirty. But what if the secret betrayal is Esper? As a motivation, I'm not exactly sure what it's saying. He's motivated to betray the Navy. Ok, but why?
Top right is feelings. He feels as though his hands are tied and someone else is in control. This means he doesn't get to make independent decisions on behalf of the military. Someone else is calling the shots and he's carrying out those orders.
Bottom left is thoughts. He's thinking about being chained to the Devil. Remember, the Devil is just avarice. He took money from someone and now must do what they tell him to do. He got greedy and now he must always obey whoever paid him. He's in deep shit. But to sum it up, his mind's on his money and his money's on his mind.
Bottom right is actions. He's acting on behalf of someone else. That someone else is probably Trump. Strength comes up a lot lately and oddly seems to be about control. Chariot is hard control, Strength is soft. Like if you get a dog to roll over by offering treats. It's also loyalty. Actually, more likely loyalty because of the 2 and 8 of Swords.
Outer center is obstacles/challenges. There's a theme of blindness with the 2 and 8 of Swords. He's not torn between anything because the Knight of Swords is charging. He's prepared to carry out orders and cut down anyone that stands in Trump's way. The blindness is blind unquestioning loyalty and could be blind to consequences as hinted at by the outcome cards.
Inner center is outcome. His whole world is about to get rekt, and he'll have sleepless nights thinking about how badly he fucked up. When Trump pardoned them, I threw down cards on what consequences there will be. It looked like an investigation will happen at some point, so I'm assuming Esper will get roasted when it happens.
11/26/19 Update
I saw an article today where Spencer acknowledged trying to make a backdoor deal with Trump in order to appease him while also keeping order among the Seals. So I guess that part is true. But the news has also reported that Trump ordered Esper to quash the disciplinary hearing and allow Gallagher to retire with his rank. So everything else here about Esper seems to be correct. Which also means Spencer wasn't fired for trying to do a backdoor deal as claimed, but for openly defying Trump and questioning his authority to the media. Trump doesn't like it when people do that. He requires fealty and will not be challenged or upstaged.
